Services and Programs
24-Hour Crisis
Line: Operates 365 days-a-year, 24 hours-a-day for people needing to
talk to a trained listener who has knowledge of domestic and sexual abuse
issues, as well as local community resources. Volunteers are always needed to
assist staff in maintaining this important community resource and must
successfully complete 32-hours of volunteer training prior to serving as a
trained crisis line operator.
Drop-In Center:
The Drop-In Center operates Monday through Friday, from 9:00am to 5:00pm – no
appointment is necessary. Advocates have private offices for the purpose of
counseling and conducting interviews. All contacts are confidential.
Arrangements may be made to meet a counselor outside the office, including
evening hours as necessary. A full kitchen is also available, where meals can
be prepared.
Support Groups:
The Agency maintains both a room where our support groups meet, as well as a
children’s play area. We offer three different support groups: 1) The Healing
Circle, a group designed for those dealing with intimate partner violence, is
Thursday mornings, from 10:00 to noon; 2) Sexual Assault Support Group is
Tuesdays, from 3:00 to 4:00pm. This eight-week, closed group, is for women who
are ready to begin the process of recovery from adult or childhood sexual
assault 3) Domestic Violence Education & Information Group is offered the first
and third Wednesdays of each month, from 9:00am to noon, for those wishing to
have a crash course on the dynamics of domestic violence and safety planning.
The Clatsop County Courts mandate that those individuals requesting the
termination of a restraining order or no contact order attend this group.
TREM (Trauma
Recovery and Empowerment Model): This is a replication project of a best
practice program developed by Community Connections, a Washington, D.C.-based
group, focusing on empowering women who have been traumatized by violence and/or
sexual assault. This program is designed specifically for survivors of trauma
who have developed mental illnesses or substance abuse coping strategies help
participants self-identify components of healthy relationships and supports
personal behavior modification. Components of the program include:
TREG (Trauma
Recovery and Empowerment Group): A psycho-educational group developed
for women who have mental health and/or substance abuse issues as a result of
trauma they have experienced at any time in their lives. WRC staff have been
trained to deliver this best practice curriculum through a 33 weekly intensive
group setting.
Women’Space; a
Day Activity Program: This program provides structured group activities,
Monday through Friday, and is open to all women interested in participating.
Individual
Case-Management Services: Every client is eligible to receive
individualized case-management services, providing advocacy and assistance in
accessing additional community resources, support in looking at options, making
safe decisions, goal planning, and/or assistance with other personal needs that
support self-sufficiency and keep individuals and children safe.
Legal and Court
Advocacy: We provide free assistance in completing and filing Temporary
Restraining Orders, assistance in requesting Stalking Orders, accompaniment to
all court proceedings, and access to free legal assistance through the Legal Aid
Services of Oregon (LASO) for victims of domestic and/or sexual assault. WRC
staff are not attorneys and therefore unable to provide any legal advice.
Bambrick House,
Safe Home Shelter: Our shelter is considered a transitional housing
program for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and their children.
We can house nine people in our shelter, which is in a safe and secret
location. A resident manager is also on-site.
